Cryo-biology and -medicine in the 21st century

The World Congress of IIR that I attended first is the 13th Congress held at Washington, D.C. from August 27 to September 3, 1971. Since that, I had served as the President of Commission C1 for 8 years between 1984 and 1991. I involved the activities of IIR, including the organization of congress and conference and the scientific publications. A monograph in Japanese, “Basic Principles and Applications of Refrigeration” by Mr. Shunroh Kato (Fig. 1908-1995), the first honorary member of IIR in Japan, enlightened me what is refrigeration.
