Comparative study of different correction methods to analyze wind turbine performance

In this work, a comparative study of different correction models applied to the Blade Element Moment Theory (BEM) is carried out, in order to analyze the performance of horizontal-axis wind turbines. Although, BEM is the bestknown method for this type of analysis, it still needs corrections regarding the effects of tip and root vortices, high induction factors and aerodynamic stall on the turbine blades. Thus, to evaluate different correction models, experimental data of MOD-0 turbine are used. A critical and comparative analysis is performed between such corrections, identifying the most appropriate approach for predicting the performance of horizontal-axis wind turbines.
