Introductory remarks On 6 December 2011, as the result of a successful effort by a distinguished group of international experts, the PCA Optional Rules for Arbitration of Disputes Relating to Outer Space Activities came into effect. Under Article 35 of these Rules, the advantages of arbitration as a means for dispute settlement and, in particular, the benefits of having a tribunal composed of experts in the field, offer an excellent opportunity for advancing in the development of the law of outer space.
