A class of graphene-based patch nano-antennas, depending on the propagation of transverse magnetic surface waves, is introduced in this paper. Graphene is defined by its surface conductivity and the propagation properties of the supporting surface waves are extracted at the far-infrared region, resulting in the proper selection of the nano-antenna dimensions. The designed patch is systematically analyzed via its radiation characteristics and reflection coefficient, while the effect of the antenna width is further investigated, revealing a competitive alternative to the classic metallic structures at this spectrum. Numerical results are extracted via a flexible finite-difference time-domain scheme.
