The clones CoA08323 and CoA09321 are early maturing clones developed from the crosses Co8371 X CoT8201 and Co86002 X Co 92008.The clones are medium thick with erect growing habit and non lodging nature. The clone CoA08323 can be distinguished by thick cane, erect growing habit and non-lodging nature, pale green tumescent stem turns to green at maturity with straight alignment, easily trashable good ratooning ability, while CoA09321 can be distinguished by deep yellow cane turns to pale yellow at maturity. Cylindrical stem with straight alignment of internodes, high NMC and excellent ratooning ability. CoA08323 recorded significantly higher cane yield whereas CoA09321 recorded maximum sugar yield, sucrose and CCS per cent when tested in two plant one ratoon crops during 2011-12 to 2012-13 across the locations East Coast Zone. The clones also recorded higher yield components when compared to standards Co6907, C0C01061 and CoA92081. The clones were resistant to red rot under nodal and plug methods of inoculation. The clone CoA08323 was resistant to smut under artificially inoculated conditions. The erect growth habit and self detrashing characters of the clones are indicative for their suitability to mechanical harvesting.
