EFFICACY OF CLOTHIANIDIN 50 WDG (DANTOTSU) AGAINST TERMITE IN SUGARCANE

An experiment was conducted at three locations Seorahi (2009-11, 2010-12), Gorakhpur (2009-11, 2010-12) and Shahjahanpur (2010-12) to find out the effect of different doses of eco-friendly insecticide clothianidin (Dantotsu) 50 WDG against termite in sugarcane. The field trial was conducted in RBD with four replications using early cultivars (CoSe 98231 and CoS 8436) during autumn season. The results revealed that the application of clothianidin 50 WDG @ 100 gm a.i./ha reduces the incidence of termite (Sett 31.13, End 13.26 and Bud basis 16.13% (2009-11), Sett 30.20, End 15.09 and Bud basis 13.99% (2010-12) at Seorahi; Sett 35.00, End 20.00, and Bud basis 17.50%, (2009-11), Sett 18.50, End 8.50 and Bud basis 10.25%, at Gorakhpur and Sett 12.00 End 7.33 and Bud 5.77% at Shahjahanpur. While maximum incidence (Sett 41.76, End 23.80 and Bud basis 25.08% (2009-11), Sett 35.89, End 24.70 and Bud basis 21.02 (2010-12) at Seorahi; Sett 45.50, End 32.50 and Bud 30.00% (2009-11) Sett 45.00, End 31.25 and Bud 32.50% (2010-12) at Gorakhpur, Sett 22.66, End 13.33 and Bud basis 10.22% (2010-12) at Shahjahanpur) during hot weather respectively. It also increases the NMC/ha (000); 104(2009-11), 108 (2010-12), 99 (2009-11), 107 (2010-12), and 124 (2010-12) and yield MT/ha; 71.75 (2009-11), 75.13 (2010-12, 86.67 (2009-11), 74.54 (2010-12) and 92.2 respectively. Its application causes no harmful effect on environment and soil health because of its green level nature.
