Influence of Nonflammable Diluents on Properties of Phosphonium Ionic Liquids as Lithium Battery Electrolytes

The transport and electrochemical properties of lithium-binary phosphonium ionic liquid electrolytes containing a phosphazene compound as a diluent are reported. It was found that the transport property (conductivity and viscosity) of lithium-binary phosphonium ionic liquid electrolytes were not reduced by addition of the phosphazene compound. Furthermore, a phosphazene-containing phosphonium ionic liquid electrolyte gave a large voltammetric response of the Li redox reaction.
