Tribological performances of two white lubricants in hot steel forging

摘要

Two graphite free lubricants are tested in contact conditions close to those encountered in hot forging. Tests are performed at temperature equaled to 1200°C, contact pressure ranging from 90 to 400 MPa, and sliding speed ranging from 20 to 360 mm/s. Results show the tested lubricants lead to coefficients of friction in the same range as the graphite lubricant ones, but white lubricants lose their ability to reduce friction as soon as the sliding lengths becomes greater to 10 mm.
