The computational fluid dynamics analysis based on the finite volume method is conducted to study the effect of wall roughness and stiffened surface of super large cooling tower on wind pressure distribution. Series of research results are obtained such as the flow characteristics around a cooling tower, wind pressure distribution, separation points of airflow, the influence of wall roughness on the wind pressure, the wind pressure distribution of the stiffened cooling tower. The results show that the stiffened cooling tower has a better characteristic of wind press resistance. These studies can provide theory guidelines for the cooling tower wind engineering research and its design.
