ECONOMIC ASPECTS ON MINING OF WASTE FROM OLD LANDFILL SITES IN RELATION TO LANDFILL SITE MANAGEMENT: ANALYSIS OF RELEVANT PARAMETERS AND THE RELEVANCE OF A SPECIFIC MANAGEMENT TOOL

This paper will make an inventory of economic aspects of sustainable stock management of landfilled material. The first part of the research was to identify the drivers and barriers, costs and benefits of enhanced landfill mining. The influence of these aspects on the development of an ELFM strategy was made, based on literature and interviews of a limited number of stakeholders. In relationship to those specific parameters a management model has been developed, in which multi criteria analysis assesses the economic feasibility of an ELFM project. The tool benchmarks the benefits of such a site for ELFM against the standardised categories in the already existing Flaminco database.
