摘要

Hydrocarbon pollution is a perennial problem not only in India but throughout the globe. A plethora of microorganisms has been reported to be the efficient degrader of this recalcitrant pollutant. In the present investigation, an efficient hydrocarbon degrading and biosurfactant producing native bacterial strain Pseudomonas aeruginosa KS3 (identified by partial 16S rDNA gene sequencing) was isolated from crude oil contaminated soil collected from oil fields of Lakowa, Sivasagar district of Assam, India. Experiments were conducted in laboratory condition to determine the efficiency of the biosurfactant producing strain to degrade polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
