In this paper, sizing nozzle specimens were prepared using zirconia and zirconia-alumina (ZA) composite powder as the main starting materials and zirconia gel as a binder. The effects of ZA composite powder content on properties of sizing nozzle were characterized and the microstructure was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The experimental results show that the zirconia sizing nozzle with ZA composite powder content can be sintered at 1650°C, which reduces the sintering temperature compared to the traditional zirconia sizing nozzle. Furthermore, a diffusion-like structure of corundum & baddeleyit bond phase forms inside the sizing nozzle, which can improve the materials' strength.
