Alumina-Magnesia-Carbon (AMC) bricks have been consolidated as a technological alternative for the metal lining of the steel ladles in a majority of the integrated steel shops worldwide. Magnesia-Alumina-Carbon (MAC) bricks were developed as an improvement of AMC line to offer to the customer the steel production guaranty with no quality interference from calcined bauxite supply. Nanotechnology approach to the MAC bricks enables an expressive reduction in the carbon content to achieve the desired performance, decreasing energy lost and contributing to less shell deformation. This work presents the development of the MAC line and customers' performance and also trials with nanotechnology bricks. MgO-C bricks results with nanographite are also presented compared to actual technology.
