Identifying and Evaluating Levee Improvement Alternatives: The City of West Sacramento

The City of West Sacramento (the City), on behalf of the West Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency (WSAFCA), has embarked on a program to improve the 55-mile levee system that surrounds and protects the City from flooding (Figure 1). The goals of the program are to obtain certification of the system and accreditation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and to provide protection from the flood event having a 0.5% chance of occurring during any given year (200-year event).
