摘要

This paper summarises the development of a full scale test apparatus used to facilitate Upheaval Buckling (UHB) testing for the Tangguh LNG Project. Model testing was performed to investigate the statistical variance of the planar uplift resistance provided by a specified variety of layered cover materials to a 24" full scale circular cross section pipe. To effectively model uplift resistance in a two dimensional manner, a model with a discrete length and known end effects was required. To quantify end effects created by using a discrete length of pipe, a mitigation technique was developed to isolate the measurement uplift resistance from any out of plane loads on the pipe. Additionally, the effect of uplift speed was investigated during the testing program to ensure that the tests were quasi-static in nature.
