Brushite(CaHPCy 2H_2O) is a metastable calcium phosphate phase formed under physiological conditions. Recently brushite cements have been of interest as potential bone substitutes due to their resorbability in comparison to apatite cements. In order to improve the cement properties an investigation of the variables that affect the setting and properties cement is important. This study reports both the effect of working temperature and liquid phase composition on setting kinetics, chemical conversion of the reagents into brushite, microstructure and the mechanical properties.
