The conventional method developed over a long period in the antenna measurement technique is application of monochrome measuring signals. Measurements performed with the use of monochrome signals are named frequency-domain measurements. Another approach to antenna characteristics measurement is possible - it is time-domain measurements with short duration pulse signals with wide absolute and relative spectrum (Δf/f_0→2, Δf - absolute spectrum width, f_0 - mean frequency) (Figure 1). This approach has been intensively developing in recent years and resulted in appearance of a new type of measuring systems -ultra wideband automated measuring and computing systems (UWB AMCS).
