Normal operation: Establishing an electrical safety maintenance culture

NFPA 70E-2015 introduced “Normal Operation” to the world. This paper demonstrates to electrical maintenance personnel how to use the requirements of “Normal Operation” to integrate safety and maintenance. It serves as an inroad to introduce and train on maintenance standards to assist electrical professionals in providing the proper techniques and frequencies to maintain electrical equipment in their facility. A partial review of the NFPA 70B Recommended Electrical Maintenance standard is included with reference material that will aid electrical maintenance professionals seeking a place to begin application of the maintenance requirements of NFPA 70E.
