Williams Operator and Technician (OpTech) Training Program develops a skilled workforce for Williams to reliably maintain and operate its pipelines and gas processing facilities in a safe and efficient manner. In addition, the Program provides an employee opportunities to pursue his or her career development while improving current skills and knowledge. The core of the program is the individual employee personal development plan. The plan is a roadmap developed by the employee and the supervisor on skills needed by the employee to meet the present needs of the job while addressing long-term career goals. Significant resources are placed in the development of this plan to make it a beneficial experience for the employee while providing skills necessary to operate and maintain William's assets. Guidance for the program is given by the "Operations Technician- Job Description, Progression Matrix and Capabilities" chart located in Williams System Integrity Plan. This chart regulates the course of an employee's development. . The chart is broken into six progressive levels of increasing knowledge and skills needed to operate and maintain the company's pipelines and plants. Further divided, the program is broken into 10 professional or craft silos. Within each of these silos, the objective is to achieve a high-level skill with commensurate levels of interpersonal skills, leadership training and the understanding of the economics of the business. The program structure is broad and is tailored to meet the needs of the individual location's pipeline and plant operations while providing performance consistency from employee to employee at various operating locations. With a shortage of qualified candidates from outside the company, the Williams OpTech Training Program allows high-potential employees with limited experience to be trained to operate and maintain the company's assets. The program engages the employee by encouraging participation in one's own development and career path. This engagement provides for higher morale and skills that are critical to safely and reliably meeting the demands of our customers.
