摘要

ToPy is an easy to use tool for half-life calculation based on the metabolically labeling using stable isotope labeled amino acids. The results are presented along with statistics which make is easy to evaluate the quality of the data and the correctness of the underlying assumptions. We found that most proteins in brain, especially those of energy metabolism and protein synthesis, turn over slower than in heart. Among the exceptions with higher turnover in brain than in heart are proteins from lipid metabolic processes reflecting the signal transmitting property of neuronal tissue.
