Considerable effort has been devoted to the development of novel bio-detection systems. Our concept involves the use of labeled structured peptides as capture molecules and results in a 'protein-fingerprint', which affords a barcode-like visualization through fluorescent intensity changes similar to molecular imaging, with protein-protein interactions mimicked by protein-peptide interactions [1]. For this purpose a novel chip material made from amorphous carbon has been developed with special surface chemistry and has many improved characteristics over conventional chip-materials [2]. In addition to high density array plates, manual array plates have been manufactured which can be used for sample trays for MALD-MS, as amorphous carbon has a high electric conductivity. The present target trays can also be used without matrix.
