摘要

Traditionally, turbo boosting of gasoline engines was focusing on the increase of power and torque for a given engine size. By engine downsizing and load point shifting fuel consumption benefits were achieved over NA engines. However, transient performance and fuel efficiency as potential drawbacks needed to be faced by dedicated evolutions of TC and combustion technologies. The role of boosted engines became really noticeable by the implementation of high efficiency engine combustion processes like GDI and, most recently, the Miller Cycle. Turbo boosting and Miller Cycle represent an ideal symbiosis for achievement of both high power and high efficiency and will thus motivate the directions of development of boosting systems and engines in future.
