Understanding the propagation mechanism of plastic optical fiber fuse

摘要

The mechanism of ultra-slow fiber-fuse propagation (∼0.02 m/s) in plastic optical fibers is analyzed. The bright spot is proved to be not a plasma but an optical discharge, the temperature of which is ∼3600 K.
