The International Confederation for Cleft Lip and Palate and Related Cranio-facial Anomalies is the most important International Cleft Association worldwide. Every four years, for 40 years professionals around the globe are gathered to discuss new techniques, standard protocols, requisites for establishment of Cleft Centers and more recently international volunteer missions around the globe. During the 2nd International Congress of the Confederation, held in Copenhagen in 1973, the pioneering work of Paul Tessier was highlighted and recognized. Interestingly, after more than 3 decades, the work of Paul Tessier remains as gold standard in craniofacial surgery for all of surgeons who dedicated their lives to this distinct subspecialty of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
