Sugarcane is the highest Bio Mass produced per hectare and is renewable. Our country (India) is the second largest producer of sugar in the world and it is the second largest crop of the food grains in the country, utilizing large human force in agriculture and sugar and allied Industries involving rural masses and playing a vital role in the rural economy. Of late the Sugar Industry is vital in cogeneration of power in meeting the energy demand up to a certain extent in the country. By improving the irrigation, adopting new varieties of cane i.e. early, normal, late maturing, sugarcane has got a bright future not only in producing sugar, but also in energy production, ethanol production etc.
