PERFORMANCE OF SUGARCANE VARIETIES UNDER DRIP AND RAIN GUN SPRINKLER IRRIGATION

The study to evaluate the performance of CoVSI 9805, VSI 434, CoC 671 and Co 86032 under different irrigation systems like drip, rain gun sprinkler and furrow irrigation was conducted at Vasantdada Sugar Institute, Pune during 2007-08 and 2008-09 for plant and ratoon crop. The results revealed that Sugarcane variety CoVSI 9805 performed well as regards the cane and sugar yield compared to VSI 434, CoC 671 and Co 86032 in all the irrigation systems. The best performance of this variety was noticed under drip irrigation followed by rain gun sprinkler irrigation. VSI 434 has recorded higher CCS. % as compared to Co VSI 9805, CoC 671 and Co 86032 in all the irrigation systems. The water saving and water use efficiency was higher under drip irrigation as compared to rain gun sprinkler and furrow irrigation systems.
