With the basic principle of magnetic circuit, the effect of the permeability and conductivity of the coil electromagnetic launcher (EML)'s shielding material on the launching performance was investigated. The model of the coil EML was set up in Ansoft Maxwell, and the influence of thickness and the structure of the shield on the launching process were analyzed. The results show that, given the fixed current of the drive coils, the electromagnetic radiation was effectively reduced due to the ferrite shield and the muzzle velocity increases with the increase of the thickness of the shield; Using solid shield was better than using the multi-layer shield. The electromagnetic shielding was basically realized.
