Ammonia Release Plume Dispersion Modeling, Community Awareness Emergency Response

While the potential for a large liquid ammonia release caused by a storage tank, line or vessel failure is very remote, the impact on the operating facility and surrounding community could be potentially devastating. The Responsible Care~(R) ethic requires development of a comprehensive Risk Management program to ensure that necessary preparations and appropriate actions are taken to reduce the risk to personnel, the facility, community and surrounding environment. This includes understanding the likelihood and consequences associated with an ammonia release scenario, implementing loss prevention trategies to eliminate or minimize the risks wherever possible, and finally developing appropriate emergency response plans.
