The identification of a parametricelectromagnetic torque model for the induction machine is studied. The data for the identification procedure is provided by the numerical impulse response test performed within the two-dimensional time-stepping finite element analysis (FEA). The applicability of the impulse test is based on the assumption of linear behaviour in the neighbourhood of an operation point. Hence, the main objective of the study is to verify the linearity of the impulse test. The parametric model is derived from the theory of the electrical machines. The parameters are estimated using the data obtained from the numerical field solution.
