Synthesis of PU Microbeads in Microfluidic Device

摘要

This study presented a simple method for the production of uniform polyurethane (PU) microbeads in microfluidic device. Emulsions of monomer phase could be formed at junction due to the use of sheath flow of immiscible phase. Spherical formation of monomer phase could be easily polymerized by UV irradiation in microchannel. In addition, the size of microbeads could be controlled by important parameter such as flow rate of continuous and dispersed phase, interfacial tension, and viscosity.
