Development of Micro-core Figure-8 Cable

摘要

The paper is focusing on micro-core figure-8 cable constructions especially optimized for installation on poles. With 24 fibers and in fully dielectric construction, the cable was designed for aerial spans up to 150 meters. Gel-filled design and semi-dry design are given. The design and fabrication process of micro-core figure-8 cable with FRP rod is presented in this paper, along with the environmental and mechanical performance, vibration test and installation behavior. The cable is suitable for self-supporting applications that require all-dielectric cable design.
