Refilling and the ERP Application

Transactional Processing in a Precious Metals environment creates unique challenges and opportunities for the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application. Providing Refining functionality within the context of a robust and feature rich ERP application enables the refining organization to leverage the value of integration into every other aspect of running the Refining-based business. Reviewing the Refining process within the context of an ERP application is the purpose of this paper. One of the more noteworthy and conceptually revealing facts surrounding the Precious Metals' Industry is the Vendor/Supplier as Customer phenomena. A Refiner will typically solicit and market suppliers as a primary source of revenue. While customers can often form a revenue stream for finished product developed as a by-product of the Refining process, the primary focus usually centers upon refining Vendor supplied material into an elemental precious material form.
