A filter test system must not be a black box.Seen from the measurement technology point of view every possible error has to be erased.Clearly defined components of particle measurement technology and the proof of their function make it possible to test oil separators quickly,reliably and under real-life conditions.The described test method allows the user to compare several oil separators and also to optimise them.The compact construction of the test rig guarantees high mobility.Thus it is possible to measure directly at the engine of a car.In order to do this,the tube is led from the test system to the engine,not to the aerosol generator.The software already proven successful in practice allows a fully automatic measurement of the oil separators.As a result,the test can be carried out independently of the operator.The function of every single component and of the complete test rig is characterised unambiguously and is proven.Complete test rigs already operate in practice.Several components are successfully used for this application by several international customers.
