'One Way' Energy Recovery System for Lifts

Recently, a variety of recovery systems for lifts have been presented. Most of the topologies have been designed to recover the braking energy via bidirectional power converters to supply the power demanded by the motor. However, they are not always the optimal solution for all scenarios, especially regarding the standard energy classification. This paper presents a modular topology combining the use of super-capacitors, unidirectional power converters and intelligent electronics to achieve a better lift energy classification (VDI4707, ISO25745 standards). Its characteristics as well as real test results are presented. This technology can be implemented either in new or existing lifts.
