摘要

This report focused on simulation accuracy of quench distortion of tool steel parts. Experiments and computer simulations were conducted and the results were compared to evaluate the accuracy of the simulation analysis. Specimens were made in a tool steel JIS SK105. They were quenched in still water. The boiling behavior was observed by video camera. Distortion was measured after quenching and compared with simulation result. We confirmed that the heat transfer coefficient (HTC) affects largely simulation accuracy of distortion and vapor blanket behavior on the specimen surfaces is important to evaluate the accurate HTC. The distortion of external dimension could be calculated accurately by the numerical simulations but the calculated distortion of shape and size of holes were not as well in agreement with measurements.
