Advances in industrial gas turbine technology

The design of industrial gas turbines presents a challenging environment requiring a balance between customer and business requirements, and the effective integration of new technologies. Solar Turbines Incorporated is currently developing new technologies to facilitate improved compressor and turbine component efficiencies, and lower emissions. Attaining these improvements while reducing life cycle cost can be challenging. New design tools are being used to facilitate optimization of future products and to shorten the overall time to market, while continuing to increase product quality within a 6-Sigma design environment. This paper surveys the use of advanced design tools in the application of new technologies and improvements within Solar's new and existing turbine products that have increased Customer value.
