Vibrator source is widely used in seismic acquisition as it is a non-destructive method with a controllable frequency range and ideally produces a zero-phase. It can operate in urban environments where dynamite sources are prohibited and has advantages with controlled, nondestructive, high-resolution, steady operation, economical and high efficiency. After introducing the principles of the electromagnetic vibrator source we have developed, the effect was evaluated by the tests being carried on delineating mine-out area, Karst with caves, tunnel. The electromagnetic vibrator source proves very promising, which consequently develops the application field such as in hydrology, engineering, environmental assessment for the purposes of hazard identification in urban environments.
