With the unceasing development of exploration technology and the improvement of scientific fundamental research, people got a deeper understanding of the importance of subtle pool exploration. In known oil-gas field, new oil-gas resources potential is tapped, petroleum geology reserves are expanded and new exploration domain is opened up through the exploration of subtle pool. This article takes the seismic inversion as the main method and uses the existing well drilling and oil well logging materials in the work area to make a fine layer demarcation in order to make a high resolution inversion of the seismic material about the south of Ta River oil field with the aid of higher order statistics algorithm to get the seismic wavelet suitable to the underground actual situation. Distribution scope of base thin sandstone reservoir in the carboniferous was determined through tracing contrast of inversion section of the vertical and horizontal directions, which provides a reliable analysis basis for subtle pool study.
