We show the results of the application of the bi – dimensional discrete wavelet transform (DWT-2D) to well logging images (WLI) in the characterization from porous, vugs and fractures zones. The WLI, within which they are those of electrical images (the FMI, EMI, FMS, ARI), and acoustics (UBI, USI), they increase the efficiency in the perforation, and they are a source of geologic knowledge. In this general frame, in the first part of this work we show the concepts of the analysis (space) – frequency (scale) 2D. In the second part, main topics of the WLI and finally third part, the results obtained in the experimentation and application of the 2-D DWT to WLI. Finally, we conclude that as a result of the analysis and correlation of results, the application of the DWT-2D to the WLI constitute an suitable tool, complementary, useful and unconventional, in the phase of analysis and evaluation of geophysical well logging and characterization of deposits.
