摘要

The demands presented by younger and more active patients with longer life expectancy have challenged orthopaedic companies to improve the designs and materials of total knee replacements (TKR). Numerous testing devices have been developed in recent years in an attempt to mimic the wear and failure mechanisms of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). The most complex of these machines are knee simulators which have been shown to reproduce the degrees of freedom and wear mechanism of implant TKR quite well [1].
