The resorbable polylactide film did not adversely affect the integrity of the anastomotic repair. Based upon the lower rate of bowel stricture, placement of the film in the flaps configuration is preferable to circumferential wrapping (loop configuration), which is consistent with clinical data obtained from other bioresorbable films. Further work is warranted to evaluate this material in bowel surgery in specifically designed adhesion models.
