Industrial's Research and Development Project 129/155 yields a method of concentrating a Hazardous Aqueous Solution (HAS), which resulted in U.S. Patent No. 4,664,752. Briefly, the HAS is vaporized and passes through a porous surface having a temperature no less than that of the vapor, which subsequently condenses to pro-duce substantially pure effluent. The porous surface, which is typically recrystallized silicon carbide, can be furnished in the form of filter candles for larger installations as well as in the form of discs for laboratory test units.
