摘要

The need for reducing friction is a critical concern in a number of industrial applications. With current pressures to reduce environmental emissions and cost of operations, combined with the ever present demand to improve efficiencies of total operating systems, a process (Induratec™) that offers an innovative and competitive solution which is much needed is studied. This method does not change the bulk metallurgy or the dimensions of the material. A comparison pin-on-disc test demonstration of the effectiveness of the Induratec™ process has been conducted. Tests were performed to ASTM Standard G99 which measures the friction of a metal pin (ball) under an applied load as it slides on a rotating disc. Key performance attributes during the tests are the coefficient of friction, temperature and wear.
