Changing Roles for Librarians-Interdisciplinary Research

Librarians at Purdue University are part of a rare, if not unique group-tenure track facuity at an institution which does not have a library or information science school or department. The tenure track appointment process is rigorous, and librarians are ultimately compared to other faculty for promotion and tenure. Although this process is often referred to as "publish or perish," Purdue librarians have consistently carved out research niches and published in many, if not all, of the profession's top peer reviewed journals.
