The Role Of Human Activities In The Spatial Data Search Process

In the article, the notion of human activities and its potential in the spatial data search process are briefly outlined. The proposed Universal Ontology of Geographic Space or UOGS in short describes the spatial databases from the human activities perspective. We believe that the UOGS introduces new ways for ordinary users and experts to search the spatial information and spatial data more intuitively. To get the most out of the (spatial) information retrieval tool, semantic similarity model has to be implemented as well as easy to use graphical user interface for conducting the search proces has to be provided. The article discusses both issues with respect to the UOGS.
