Complex systems can only be adequately described as compositive, polylogic emerging wholes and cannot be mapped to deductive structures (trees) without removing their complex quality. To harness and harvest this quality, a generative bottom-up approach to computing is needed. The paper presents one such effort, the Pile System, which implements a new approach to representation and a new type of structure combining the advantages of hierarchies and complex networks without inheriting their respective disadvantages. By computing pure relations instead of data in a scalable combinatory logic space, complexity can be harnessed as well as harvested.
