Service Discovery and Deployment in Service-Oriented Computing Environment

Distributed applications based on Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) model are highly dynamic in regards to the location and execution state of services. Not only can applications dynamically choose between multiple available services, but the distributed system can also dynamically add, remove, or relocate the available services. Thus, distributed systems based on SOC model require the mechanisms for run-time service discovery and deployment. We are developing a run-time management system for discovery and deployment of WSRF-compliant services developed using the .NET platform. In order to simplify the service management, a set of WSRF-compliant services is grouped into a Service-Oriented Distributed (SoD) cell. We have developed the Service Discovery and Deployment (SDD) system as an integral part of the SoD cell. In this paper, we present the requirements imposed by SoD cell for designing and implementing the SDD system. We describe in detail the architecture of the SDD system and key implementation details.
