The Study on Material Separation of Final Waste Plastic Using Triboelectrostaic Separation Technique

Korea is using more than 10% of plastic use every year, because of a good material characteristic such as high function, hygiene, convenience and economic. Especially, our country is producing the plastic of about 9 million ton of 4th in the world, following U.S.A, Japan and Germany owing to the development of oil industry, and about 3.5 million ton waste plastics are produced by years. But, in present, over 80% of the waste plastic is disposed by the methods of reclamation and incineration, while only 20% of waste plastic is recycled. Therefore, it brings many problems such as economical loss and environmental pollution by disposal of waste plastic. Material recycling among the methods of recycling the waste plastic is one of the best methods. Therefore, the good separation technique for material recycling has to be developed prior to other techniques. In this study, we carried out the research on development of material separation technique by triboelectrosatic separation to solve these problems. Especially, material separation of sink product coming from gravity separation had been researched. In optimum test conditions, the separation technique that could remove PVC up to 99% from PET was developed.
