摘要

At present, integer-integer wavelet transform combined with set partitioning in hierarchical trees algorithm has been widely studied in the field of image compression. In this paper, a new algorithm is proposed that Human Visual System is further considered and SPIHT algorithm is slightly modified according to characteristics of weighted wavelet coefficients. Simulation results show that for a given bit-rate, the subjective visual effect of reconstructed image acquires improvement to a certain extent, and because memory requirement is reduced significantly, the coding procedure of new algorithm is extremely fast. The new algorithm can be used in the memory-limited or real-time situation.
