The paper Shows apart of the research results, which are completed by the authors, about the physics of cohesive sediment in the marine environment from a hydrodynamic and soil mechanical vies. One of the main results is a relationship established between flux Richardson number (Ri_f) and sediment concentration wiht flow velocity as a parameter A critical Richardson number is used to divide the flow conditions into three regimes, i. e. , high concentration sub - saturated suspension regime, a hyper - concentration suspension regime and a super- saturated regime. On this basis, the authors in vestigate the features of sediment transport and flow such as river clogging , and consolidation. The results are of great implications in river dynammics, for example, it justify that it is possible for a given flow to have two capacities for sediment transport at high concentration and hyper concentration.
